How did the fight happen?

Gargi, an MBA student, is known for her disciplined approach to academics and her sharp corporate experience. After working in a well-known marketing firm for a few years, she had returned to school to further her expertise. Confident and assertive, she was used to leading projects and making decisions without opposition.

Apoorva, on the other hand, was a BBA student in her final year. Though younger, she was known for her creativity and innovative thinking, often pushing boundaries with fresh, bold ideas. Apoorva was popular among her peers for her leadership in student clubs and her passion for entrepreneurial ventures.

The two were placed on the same team for a university-wide business case competition. The challenge was to design a digital marketing campaign for a new tech startup. With both women eager to take the lead, tensions surfaced almost immediately.

Gargi, with her background in traditional marketing, proposed a tried-and-tested strategy. She suggested focusing on print and television ads, coupled with a conservative social media presence, to appeal to an older demographic. Apoorva, who was immersed in the digital-first world, countered with a strategy centred around viral marketing, influencer partnerships, and TikTok campaigns to attract younger customers.

During one of the team meetings, Apoorva interrupted Gargi’s presentation, rolling her eyes. “This isn’t the 90s, Gargi. No one watches TV ads anymore. We need to think outside the box.”

Gargi, visibly irritated, responded, “And your TikTok plan? It’s all gimmicks. This isn’t a game, Apoorva. Real businesses need real strategies.”

Their teammates shifted uncomfortably, caught between the two powerful personalities. Apoorva, not one to back down, shot back, “Just because you have an MBA doesn’t mean you’re always right. You’re out of touch with the digital age.”

That comment struck a nerve. Gargi, who prided herself on her experience, felt belittled by Apoorva’s words. She stood up, furious. “You think you know everything because you’re trendy? You haven’t even worked a day in the real world.”

The room tensed as the argument escalated. Gargi slammed her laptop shut, knocking over some papers in frustration. Apoorva, not willing to let it go, pushed her chair back aggressively, and the two squared off.

In the heat of the moment, Apoorva shoved Gargi, and Gargi retaliated, grabbing Apoorva’s arm. Their teammates rushed to separate them as the verbal clash turned physical, leaving everyone stunned by how quickly things had spiralled out of control.
